I am trying to access a Remote Windows XP Machine with Goverlan RC 7.05
I can use Goverlan Task Manager to attach if I say No to the Update of remote to 7.05 from 7.04, If I try update it just infinitly loops to update.

But, When I use the GoverRC to access the same machine it again just infinitly loops to update.

And if I try Do not update it tells me "You were not authorized to execute the last action ...."
As I try to find the credentials that will work I get a Goverlan Remote Control (CLient) has stopped working crash screen.
With the following details:
Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
  Application Name: GoverRMC.exe
  Application Version: 7.1.40.0
  Application Timestamp: 4c93b19d
  Fault Module Name: GovBaseUI.dll
  Fault Module Version: 7.1.40.0
  Fault Module Timestamp: 4c93b11c
  Exception Code: c0000005
  Exception Offset: 00009475
  OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.48
  Locale ID: 1033
  Additional Information 1: 0a9e
  Additional Information 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789
  Additional Information 3: 0a9e
  Additional Information 4: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789

I tried checking online for a solution and close and restart GoverlanRc again but issue repeats.

I find it strange the the Goverlan Task Manager can connect without any credentials but GoverRC wants them but crashes when they are entered.

Windows Remote Desktop can connect to the Remote Computer.
But upon Login says the computer does not allow you yo login Interactively.

Any Ideas what to do to resolve this?
Thanks Wes M.

I need the following information:
  • Is the remote machine part of a domain or a stand alone XP client?

  • What happens if from Windows you attempt to open the \\REMOTE_XP\C$ share (where REMOTE_XP is the name or IP or the remote client)?

Do windows prompts you for credentials?
Are you able to provide credentials and see the C$ share file?

It is on a Microsft Active Directory Domain but I can also use local administrator to login to the computers name.

Tried what you asked and here is the result:
c:\>\\rxp-wsvdepot3\c$
The network name cannot be found.
c:\>\\10.87.1.196\c$
The network name cannot be found.

I can ping the Machine and IP from the CMD prompt.

I am able to use regedit and access the remote machines registry.

At this stage, this may need technical support assistance. This thread is going to be rerouted to the support team.

Could you please update to the latest version of Goverlan. To do so please go to Help> Online Access > Check for updates in Goverlan console. Once that is done, could you please try to replicate the issue you had.

Please let me know what happens.

My GoverLAN is up to date.

I ended up having to do this:
    • Click Start
    • Type regedit in the Start Search box, and then click regedit in the Programs list.
    • Expand the following subkey:
            HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
    • If the LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy registry entry does not exist, follow these steps:
      1. On the Edit menu, click New, and then click DWORD Value
      2. Type LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy, and then press ENTER
    • Right-click LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy, and then click Modify
    • In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK
  • Exit Registry Editor

Can you please tell me exactly what you are trying to do using Goverlan?

I am trying to understand why you had to change the LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy in the registry and how that action resolved the issue. That token specifically applied to UAC remote restrictions if I am not wrong.

Please give me details of the problem so I can help you troubleshoot the problem better.

I was trying to get WMIX to work.  I was unable to get the admin shares of a remote computer until I added the LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy.

I am having an issues very similar,  When I use the "run as" and type in my Domain account.  It crashes with an error.  Problem is If I run as administrator it work.  or if I use any other domain account it works.
The domain account I am trying to use is a local admin on all computer in my domain.  but it crash goverlan as soon as I try and open it.  even if I log in as that domain account and try and run goverlan.  It crashes.  Error follows:

mchevel01,

Can you please do the following.

  1. Open Regedit
  2. Navigate to HKCU\Software\PJ Technologies\Goverlan v7
  3. Rename to the folder to Goverlan v7 Old
  4. Restart Goverlan and try again.
Let me know what the results are.

What is
Goverlan SureData Technology
Technology?

SUREDATA is a Real-Time & Database-Driven Query Engine that guarantees the most complete and accurate view of your environment.

System management solutions that are database-driven ensure data availability but may not be current. Real-time solutions are responsive and current but they can’t handle offline devices.

With GOVERLAN’s SURE-DATA Technology you don’t have to trade off accuracy for availability - the data is directly queried from the system in real-time, then registered into a database back-end. If a system is offline, GOVERLAN automatically pulls the information from the database.

SURE-DATA gives you the best of both worlds - accuracy and availability of information on every machine, online or offline.
